Dear Friends,

For thirty years, the California Voter Foundation has supported voters and elections by promoting and providing public access to reliable election information and working to secure the election process so people can vote with confidence.

Hi Folks,

Tomorrow is "Super Tuesday" when more than a dozen states, including California, will hold Primary elections. A few million Californians have already voted, and a few million more will turn in ballots tomorrow or opt to vote in person at a polling place or vote center.

Hi Folks,

As we head into the holiday season, in this year-end CVF-News Roundup, I wanted to take a moment to share stories featuring CVF as well as an inspiring civil rights exhibit in Los Angeles, and to ask once more for you to support CVF's work as we head into 2024. A big thank you to everyone who has already donated.

Wishing you and yours a peaceful and restorative holiday season,

Join CVF on November 6th, 2023 to celebrate Election Hero Day!

November 3, 2023

Hi Folks,

Do you know someone who helps make elections happen? Maybe someone who serves as a poll worker in your community? Or a staffer at your local or state elections department?

Maybe you know a journalist who covers election issues? Or a person working at a nonprofit helping voters. Or a teacher who engages students in the voting process. Maybe someone at your local library or post office who always makes sure there are voter registration applications available.

All of these people are election heroes, and Monday, November 6th is Election Hero Day 2023 and a day to celebrate them!

The California Voter Foundation joined with five other nonprofit, nonpartisan voter advocacy groups yesterday to request that California's Secretary of State, Dr. Shirley Weber, monitor and support upcoming elections in Shasta County, where controversies over voting equipment and ballot counting threaten election safety and accessibility and potentially undermine the security and accuracy of vote counts.

Hi Folks,

This morning I headed over to the California Secretary of State's office, where a public hearing was taking place to receive comments on the state's proposed Ballot Counting regulations. Comments are due by midnight, July 5th.

These regulations are being developed by Secretary of State Shirley Weber and her staff to provide county election officials with a framework for using people rather than computers to count California ballots.
