About the Propositions

California's June ballot includes five statewide propositions, 13 through 17, also called ballot measures. Propositions are assigned numbers by the Secretary of State, and require a simple majority to pass.

• Prop. 13 - Limits on property tax assessment. Seismic retrofitting of existing buildings.

• Prop. 14 - Elections. Increases right to participate in primary elections

• Prop. 15 - California Fair Elections Act

• Prop. 16 - Imposes new two-thirds voter approval requirements for local public electricity providers.

• Prop. 17 - Allows auto insurance companies to base their prices in part on a driver’s history of insurance coverage
